And so it goes and so it goes and your the only one who knows…. billie joel… or each of us thinks that way….
Many “things” can help but there is always a moment in time when that feeling, of the freedom of being alone becomes the need to have another body on the sofa for your foot warmer.

Dear Lucinda,
We haven’t lost our country yet … those who inflated without monitoring the government programs hopefully will experience a set back next week. I have down-loaded the Health Legislation (1990 pages!) and am so upset by so much, including under the “definition portion” establishment of a Health Comissioner who will be complete control … will determine the ailments covered for each individual … not our physicians. The “do-gooders” in Washington seem to be doing us in. Why not just extend selection of carriers across state lines, do eliminate junk-type suits or is that too simple. Then fix Medicare. Once Government has demonstrated competency, then go forward, if it is necessary.
Yes, the fable of the ant and the grasshopper should be remembered and practiced by all. Save for a rainy day. You are much younger than I, yet you recall the old adages! Hooray for your ancesters!!! Some day we’ll have to continue our conversation re:education. Enjoiy the sunshine. Sorry that you won’t be with us at the screen Writing Workshop on Nov. 12th. Affectionately, Marie

Greetings from Painted Post (Dry Run Road)
been investigationg history through correspondence from mid 5o’s through the 60’s
Your grandmother was quite invested in the Homestead but found the first Executive Director place by your grandfather was not what I would call a good steward of the gift. Perhaps that was a part of the disconnect of the family over time. Of course I am sure a few pieces of the puzzle are missing. But I’ll keep playing. hugs D

I enjoyed reading your blog today while I spent the morning home all alone for the first time in months…..being alone allows one to reflect, as you have done in your blog and to open our minds to reach beyond the clutter we fill ourselves with in our daily lives. Soo much clutter because we live in a world of more STUFF than the generation before us…..which leads to the fun our parents generation had. Time and stuff happened to be a luxury back then. They planned carefully how their free time should be spent and with whom. They may not have been what any of us would consider perfect but they for the most part grew their relationships rather than dispose of and move on and they stayed married…..many were in unhappy marriages but the kids at least had a sense of family units. I am sure my daughter suffers from my being married to more than one man and yet she took away some great things from all of them…….her time had to be shared tho more than she would have preferred and I took a back seat many times because I put her in that position. Looking back on all of it, I like you, reflect on the “Whats it all about Alfie” thing and probably would not have done much different given the fact that I know myself so well but i would have used my watch differently!! So now, I went out yesterday and bought a cheap Timex as well and strapped it on only to see that I could not understand any of it!! Inexpensive, yes. Plastic and indestructable, yes. Not haughty or flashy, yes. BUT I’ll be damned if that thing did not come with bells and whistles that require a masters degree in physics to operate. I really fell for the idea that I could strap it on, go swimming and learn how far I had gone as well as how many calories I burned. So far I have only burned calories due to the calisthenics from tension I have endured trying to program this damn apparatise!!! keep on blogging….it is inspiring and a great release!! I feel terrific now no matter what time it is!! love you deb
